New Dylan Thomas movie, starring Elijah Wood and Celyn Jones
YJB Films have just co-produced, Set Fire to the Stars, a feature film about Dylan Thomas. Written by Welsh actor, Celyn Jones and Andy Goddard, an award winning director whose previous work includes Little Sisters, The Outsiders and Downton Abbey, the powerful film tells the story of poet Dylan Thomas’s first epic tour of America through the eyes of John Brinnin, the man who rescued Thomas and brought him to the US.
Based on real events, Set Fire to the Stars offers a snapshot of the great poet’s first faltering steps into the American heartland and provides a cautionary tale about meeting your heroes.
“We are thrilled to have such an incredible cast on this project and I’m so thankful to all the people that have made the film a reality. It’s a testament to the excellent script that we have been able to attract such acting talent to Swansea Bay – the home of Dylan Thomas”, said producer, Andrew Riach.
Andy Goddard director said “We’re effectively making an American indie in the heart of Swansea Bay; B-movie shoot-from-the-hip storytelling with A-list ambition.”
Filming took place in and around Swansea Bay with the production unit being based out of the Baystudios. Set Fire to the Stars will have a theatrical and festival release later in 2014, in time for the Dylan Thomas Centenary.
